Career counseling is very important in many ways for young high school girls in developing countries like India. It provides them with valuable exposure to career opportunities that they might not have otherwise considered or thought were out of their reach. Firstly, such career counseling broadens their horizons and educates them about new types of career paths as per the needs of today's new economy apart from the traditional careers like banking, medical, engineering and education. In this way, the feeling of empowerment and independence increases in such girls.

In previous generations, traditional roles were limited to government services, medicine and engineering. But now a variety of career paths have emerged like business, law, arts, fashion designers, architects, marketing, different types of management etc. which carry both respect and good salary/remuneration. Secondly, career counseling can provide the girl child the guidance and support she needs to navigate her educational and professional opportunities, which are not readily available or known to the girl child in a city like Sasaram. It is also worth noting that it has now become easier to get an education – in addition to traditional colleges, students can now enroll in open universities (for distance learning) and vocational colleges/institutions (which provide on-the-job training). Girls' educational and professional aspirations are often limited due to the unavailability of such institutions or courses in a city like Sasaram. In such a situation, career counseling can bring a radical change in shaping the future of the boys and girls of a city like Sasaram. After counselling, such boys and girls can imagine wider possibilities for themselves and become empowered to achieve them. Also, through such counselling, they are also equipped with the necessary resources to overcome the socio-economic obstacles in front of them; Such as information about scholarships and vocational training programs that suit their interests and circumstances and also have low fees.

Career counseling builds self-confidence and decision-making abilities, which will encourage the youth to take active steps towards their better future. Competitions are becoming tougher day by day. Therefore engaging with career counseling early in high school ensures that young people can make fully informed decisions about their future; And especially he should understand the relationship between education and career success and only then decide his future.

For this purpose, few youngsters associated with Madhuram have decided to start a voluntary career counseling program for students of Sasaram. This program will be completely online – there shall be no fees or cost to the students. The program will be held on weekend : Saturdays and Sundays for one to two hours. The Counselors have received their education in their respective fields from the most prestigious institutions of the world and are working in different countries. They have extensive experience of the modern economy and its associated education/training needs. The design of the counseling course and the Counselors are on the next pages.
